Zgłobice – manor house and park

Dworska 1, 33-113 Zgłobice

On a hill in the center of Zglobice there is a manor house surrounded by a park. Currently, it houses a five-star boutique hotel and spa called the Presidential Manor. The first records of the existence of Zglobice come from the 14th century. For many centuries, a ferry crossing the Dunajec River, and later a bridge, existed here.

The manor is an example of the residence of middle-class landowners from the 19th century. However, the history of the manor is much longer. We can see the bricked-up window of the knight’s seat there, probably from the 16th century. In the second half of the 19th century, Zglobice was owned by several owners.

Among them was Countess Aleksandra Lanckorońska (died 1879), who is credited with the initiative to build the present manor in the place of the old one, among the earlier park layout. The brick mansion, classicising, with a triangular pediment on the avant-corps, received conch niches in the front elevation with allegorical statues. The manor house was damaged during World War I. After 1923, as a result of family divisions, Zofia née Turnau and her husband Adam Marszałkowicz became the owners of the manor, in 1930-33 Tarnów’s government commissioner and in 1933-34 the first president of Tarnów. The property was taken over by the State Treasury in 1946, then it was returned and collected until 2007, when it was returned to the heirs of the Marszałkowiczes. From 1 August 2014, the interiors of the renovated manor house houses the “Presidential Manor” hotel associated with the Historical Hotels Foundation. The mansion is framed by a three-hectare park with a chestnut avenue leading to the driveway. In its north-eastern part there is a two-story outbuilding from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, in the south there is a former gardener’s house, and in the eastern part a brick farm building.
