Tenement was a property of Nikielsons, a Scotch family that’s been living in Tarnów since medieval times. Helena, the last of lineage, gave princes Sanguszkos an area at Rynku 4 by joining Bernardine monastery in 1747. In 1912 Tadeusz Tertil, who was mayor at the time, became the tenement’s ownet in scandalous circumstances. He rebuilt and expanded the tenement. Later, he connected it with a second one, which he exposed from Kazimierz Wielki Square, creating a shopping arcade, which still holds his name. Tadeusz Tertil, who is considered one of the most notable town ruler, was commemorated by a memorial, which stood in front of the tenement in 2018. In the tenement there is currently Tarnów Park of Experience, bringing the world of science, nature and technology closer.
