One of the most frequently visited places by inhabitants of Tarnów is Shooting Park established in 1866. The old seat of the Shooting Association, built in English Neo-Gothic style, today is the location of Biuro Wystaw Artystycznych (Bureau of Art Exhibitions), one of the best such cultural facilities in Poland. The building and the park were created on the initiative of ex-mayor of Tarnów Józef Kalasanty Pędracki. In the room of the building various events connected with the activity of the Shooting Association, also called the Civilian Archers’ Fraternity, were held. During the last days of October 1918 there were almost two hundred young armed people of various organizations, getting ready to disarm Austrian soldiers. Nowadays vernissages, contemporary art galleries, creative workshops and various events are held there. Behind the building, in the area of the old shooting range, there are sensory gardens.
