Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Lwowska Street)
Lwowska 102, 33-110 Tarnów
Construction of the church began on 22nd of June, 1935. The work of building the church, furnishing its interior and surroundings and maintaining the technical state of objects all lasted for almost half a century. The first “builder” of the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was a priest, Roman Sitko, who was imprisoned and lost in Oświęcim’s death camp in 1942. One of the church bell was named “Roman” in his memory, along with placing a memorial under the catedral choir (in 1970) with priest’s torso and a text, which we read out to this day in his memory and with all due respect ever since Roman Sitko has been regarded as a blessed individual.
