The historic house No. 3 is located on the western side of the market square. It was established in the 16th century on the site of an older building with the use of its cellars. It was a multi-storey building with an arcaded tract. It was called the “Rossowska” tenement house from a Scot’s owner named Ross.
After the fire in 1738, the arcaded track was liquidated and the second floor was added. In later centuries, the tenement house was rebuilt several times. In the years 1968-1970 it obtained its present form with an open arcade and a second floor.
Since 2013, the tenement house belongs to the District Museum, whose origins date back to 1927. Currently, in the house, Rynek no. 3, the Management of the District Museum in Tarnów has its seat.
There are temporary exhibitions related to the history of Tarnów and the region. Information about them can be found on the website of the Museum.
