Market Square, Wooden Architecture

These charming two-and-three-chamber log houses with thatched roofs are well-preserved monuments of the 19th and 20th centuries timber construction. The buildings are located near the market square and run through the Wooden Architecture Route in Lesser Poland (the Małopolska region). It is also worthwhile to take a look at the name – Uście (estuary). Its name is associated with the topography of the place – it is located at the river’s estuary. The epithet Solne (salty), on the other hand, comes from salt which used to be imported to the local river port from Bochnia for ages – at first by river, and then by land.
