The organ grinder

Bema, 33-100 Tarnów

As pre-war notes and historical documents say that an organ grinder (PL: Kataryniarz) used to play in Tarnów in the old days. He played every day, in various parts of the city, but the little square in the north-eastern part of Bem Square was his favorite place. The Kataryniarz is in a characteristic pose, with an organ grinder and a parrot on his shoulder. The sculpture by the Kielce artist Arkadiusz Latos is over 2 meters high. It is made of bronze. The organ grinder features the most important symbols of Tarnów: the town hall, cathedral and bimah. Being close enough to the sculpture you can hear soft music, typical of an organ grinder.
