Debrza Sanctuary

The sanctuary was created in 1995 and has the area of 9.5 ha. It is an isolated forest complex which houses an abundant layer of ground cover as well as aged limes and oak trees. The oldest ones can be found in the northern-western part of the park and their age is estimated to be even 300 years. On the western side of the forest there is a distillery and the Sanguszkos’ four-flat building. The alcohol production was secured by permanent inflow of water from forest wells. For this purpose a special wooden system was built which consisted of oak pipes and channels. Though the sanctuary is quite close to the city it is not often visited by people.
