A place where you can quickly and in an attractive way learn about the history of Tarnów is the newly opened Museum of the History of Tarnów and the Region in the District Museum. At the beginning of the tour, visitors are greeted by the speech of the organ grinder, inviting them to listen to the sounds of the past. Next, there is an exhibition path with references to legends and facts from the history of the city.
The exhibition is located in two renovated Renaissance tenement houses with beautiful painting decorations inside. In one of them you can see frescoes from the 16th century and it is possible that there was an Arian chapel. The museum presents, among others the most valuable documents concerning Tarnów from the period of the First Polish Republic and archaeological exhibits from thousands of years ago.
In the darkened room, you can listen to the stories about the history of the city, divided chronologically into several stages. The story is illustrated with slides projected on the wall. A large map of Tarnów placed on the desktop shows the place of action by highlighting streets and districts.
