During World War II, from March to July 1941, in the Kruk forest on the slope of Saint Martin’s Mountain, German soldiers murdered about 400 people. In the years 1958–1959, a monument designed by Tarnów artists, Bogdan and Anatol Drwal, was built on the slope of one of the ravines. The monument, built of boulders, commemorates these tragic events.
