Park in Gumniska
Sanguszków, 33-110 Tarnów
In Gumniska the biggest attraction is a palace-park complex, which till 1945 belonged to princes Sanguszko. The palace was constructed in two stages. The eastern part in 1799 and the western part in 1834. Nowadays there is a school there. The palace is surrounded by a vast park of about 11 ha area, located on hill slopes. In the northern part the park preserved its English style landscape. The old trees mainly consist of local deciduous and coniferous trees with a touch of exotic species. The London plane growing in front of the palace, which is a natural monument, is the thickest tree in Tarnów. On the slope on the southern part of the palace there is a two-level Italian style garden. In the middle of the garden there is a fountain, backlit after dusk, which was renovated in 2020. Stone stairs lead to the terrace in front of the palace. The south western part of the park is of forest character.
