One of the largest wooden churches in Poland is located in Skrzyszów near Tarnów. It was built in 1517 from the foundation of Hetman Jan Tarnowski. The builder was Jan from Czchów, a carpenter, as evidenced by the signature preserved on one of the church portals. It is a single-nave church with a chancel closed on three sides. As a result of the two-fold expansion in the 18th and 19th centuries, elongated transept side chapels, a sacristy and a tower were added. The interior, covered with flat ceilings, is decorated with Art Nouveau polychrome from 1906. The chancel is separated from the nave by a semicircular rood arch with a profiled beam, on which a late Gothic crucifix and statues of Our Lady of Sorrows and St. John the Evangelist. There are three late gothic portals in the church, two stepped and one leading to the sacristy.
