Blessed Karolina Kózkówna, a martyr murdered by Russian soldier in defense of her dignity, is especially worshiped in Tarnów and its surroundings. She was declared blessed on 10th of June 1987 by Pope John Paul II. The church dedicated to her is the biggest temple in Tarnów as well as one of the biggest in Tarnów’s Diocese. The temple is stationed on a high ground and its tall, almost 70 meters long tower resembles an index finger pointing upwards, showing tourists and its residents the way to God. A statue was revealed on 16th of October 2008, on 30th anniversary of electing Karol Wojtyła as a capital of st. Peter. The Statue of a Polish Pope was fully finished in October of 2010.
